Facts about the Lake

The Lake is a Site of Outstanding Natural Beauty by the Ministry of Culture. Included in the National NATURA 2000 list.

An ultimate tourist destination: impressive rocks standing there millions of years, around a breathtaking lake that seems to be a rare phenomenon of the nature – situated right in the heart of Vouliagmeni, capturing the eye of the beholder. Brackish water replenished both by the sea & the underground thermal springs, and a labyrinth underwater cave, which, its end still remains elusive, really create a magical atmosphere for the visitor.

The lake is a marvelous landscape and a great place to be…

To enjoy – a drink or a lunch break or even a special night out.
To have a walk – at the Faskomilia Hill, an area over the lake of almost 300 acres. The place is considered ideal for hiking or cycling. You can even make a request to The Lake for an organized group tour on the Hill there.
To rejuvenate – consider the lake as a natural spa. On the one hand, recognized healing properties of the water’s high temperatures (ranging from 22˚ to 29˚C, throughout the year) along with its high concentration in salts and minerals and on the other hand, the Garra Rufa, the small… fish of the lake that offer body peeling services and a fantastic massage!
To have fun with outdoor activities – swimming, aqua aerobic, even snorkeling (upon request).

Despite the fact that the labyrinth underwater cave has been explored over the years at a length of 3,123 metres, the cave’s end remains elusive. One of the 14 tunnels of the lake, is the longest in length in the world, reaching 800 metres.
